I hope you all had a chance to see the pictures from the Northfield Historical Society fundraiser on Nov 1. This was really a classic Northfield event. I think everyone had a good time. One more time. Thanks to the Jacobson family for their ongoing contributions to Northfield.
What a wonderful place to have an auction for the Historical Society. People really opened their hearts (and their wallets) .
The largest item was a beautiful antique roll top desk which brought $1,000 dollars.
What a donation from the Bragoniers. First National Bank rain gauges sold for $31.00 each (WOW) Brett Reese adds to his collection of Northfield items. It’s difficult for him to find things he doesn’t have already. If you missed this one, you have my sympathy. It doesn’t get any better.
The next day, I helped Jerry Kokoschke with an auction for one of his favorite projects, Camp Omega on Horseshoe Lake west of Faribault. This fundraiser was held at Trinity Church in Faribault. Jerry was on a roll. He started selling apples one at a time. The winning bid for a giant Fireside apple was $3.50 each. He then proceeded to sell all the rest of the bushel for $3.50 each. What a crowd of good bidders. Then he sold 400 pounds of hamburger donated by the Saemrow Dairy of Morristown. The price was $3.50 per pound. A little math shows $1,400 for Camp Omega. Good auction, followed by a great supper at the Faribault Legion. The event was put together by Curt Stoltenau. I don’t know if I spelled his name correctly, but he’s a good sport. Another great item was a day of ice fishing with Curt and Jerry. This brought $100+ pe trip and Jerry and Curt donated three trips. If you read this and you know someone who is considering an auction as part of a fundraiser, give me a call. We enjoy helping good causes raise money.
We are getting really excited about Ida Wiese’s auction on Sunday November 9. The more the we work, the more we find. I have already mentioned the incredible amount of radios and radion parts. I also mentioned the steel guitar. I don’t think I told you about all the Gene Autry and Shirley Temple and show business collectibles. Also about 400 really neat romantic (or risque) postcards from about 1920. This will be incredible. We will also be selling Ida’s hobby farm at the auction. The auction starts at 11:00 AM and the real estate sells at 2:00 PM. Dres warm. We will be selling the antiques inside the shed, but it isn’t heated.
The last thing I want to mention is that next Sunday, Nov 16, Jerry and I will be working with Walt Gaul at his auction barn near Owatonna. You go 4 1/2 mi E on Hwy 14 and then 1 mile S on Cty 59. We are doing a double household auction with Walt. Mildred Lindloff of Mankato and Norman Kalien of Faribault have moved out of state and boy do we have a lot of nice things to sell at auction. Thanks for reading. I have to go and make supper and then get ready to go to Ida’s in the morning and find even more antiques. See you at an auction.
PS I really like to know if you are reading this. Let me know. I might even buy coffee!
