Well we had quite an auction on Saturday, February 7 in Northfield. The auction was for the Charles Weeks estate and was held at the Weeks house at 217 North Linden in Northfield. Many people made comments about this charming old house, which must be one of the oldest in the West side of Northfield. The weather was perfect for February. The day was sunny, and there was no wind. It actually felt warm on the south side of the house. We had a good crowd. The bidding was spirited. A pair of brass “dog” bookends sold for $37.50. The green depression glass brought good prices, with a paneled cream and sugar bringing $45. The teapots sold well. The “Hall” teapot which was shaped like a “doughnut” sold for $225. The oak secretaries brought $675 and $725. A “Seth Thomas“ shelf clock brought $275. It was such a nice day that it was nice to have an excuse to be outside. We had a good crowd right up to the end of the auction. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and looking forward to more good auctions this spring.
