John and Barb Kisor are selling their house in Dundas and have moved to Northfield. They will be selling a large number of items of personal property at public auction located at 212 2nd St S in Dundas on Saturday, May 1 at 10:00 AM. John was quite a woodworker and we will be selling his tools at the auction. Barb has a nice collection of chicken and rooster collectibles which will be selling also. There is a nice John Deere RX-75 riding lawn mower, nice furniture, and lots of household items. Make plans now to join us for this auction.

On Sunday afternoon (April 25) we had a real nice fundraising auction at St John’s Lutheran church in Northfield. The money raised will go to help kids go to camp this summer. In addition to the live auction there was a picnic lunch , a variety show, and a silent auction. There were lots of nice items at the auction. A chip carved Celtic cross sold for $180. Other items sold included dinners and brunches, violin and harp music, and even a seaplane ride. There was some very spirited bidding by some of the kids. All the parents had to do was to sit back and write checks after the auction. Sometimes people are surprised by how many fundraising auctions are held each year. A live fundraising auction can add interest and excitement to your event in a way that nothing else can do. People want to be generous and help with good causes and the auction method is a good way for people to participate who might not otherwise be able to. It’s a radio signal for a website, most commonly used for weblogs. More technically: “Rich Site Summary (RSS) is a lightweight XML format designed for sharing headlines and other Web content. Think of it as a distributable “What’s New” for your site.” See Intro to RSS for more info.

The Newspaper Association of America site has an informative article titled Syndication Made Simple. “Just as free e-mail newsletters enable publishers to directly reach readers and promote online and in-paper content, RSS “pushes” headlines and succinct, one-sentence article descriptions to those who subscribe to the no-cost feeds.”

Saturday night I had the privilege of working with one of the most enthusiastic crowds you could imagine. I conducted a live auction for St Dominic’s school in Northfield as part of their “Saints Night Out” fundraiser. The enthusiasm was “heavenly”. You can see from the pictures that I became emotionally involved in the bidding. The excitement was contagious. Numerous items of student artwork sold extremely well with items bringing between $500 and $1000. The buffet was great, the people were great. Congratulations to Peggy and Kevin Fink and all the volunteers who helped them to make this event such a resounding success.
