On Thursday, May 27 at 5:00 PM, we will be doing an auction for the estate of Lloyd Hustvedt in Northfield. The auction is located at 5026 90th St E in Northfield. This is approximately 1 mile West of Northfield on Hwy 19 and then South about ½ mile on 90th St. (lunch will be available) There are many nice items on this auction including a number of books about Scandinavia and a large number of books written in Norwegian. There are Norwegian clothes and there are a number of children’s “everyday” bunads. There is furniture, decorator items, linens, yard and garden items, sleds, kitchen items, a nice oak dining room table and chairs, Singer sewing machine, collectibles, etc, etc. This will be a nice estate auction in it’s own right. What makes it extra special is this: Lloyd Hustvedt was a lifelong DFLer. Ester will donate the proceeds of the auction to the John Kerry campaign and to the Rice County DFL party. Pass the word along to anyone you know who may be interested in attending this fine auction.

On May 15, we lost Barb’s Dad, Lawrence Larsen, of rural Mantorville, MN. Lawrence had fought a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. Lawrence spent his entire life on a dairy farm and loved to go to auctions. Lawrence was always interested in antiques and was a major source of information and help to me and Barb’s brother Paul when we first got started with our antique store in Mantorville back in 1975. Lawrence was interested in our auction business from Day One. Years later, he and Arlene still had our first auction flyer hanging in their kitchen. We will miss him

Yes it is official. The Northfield Historical Society will be sponsoring a one day flea market in Northfield on July 4. The flea market will be located in Ames Park, which is across the river from downtown Northfield. It will be an “antiques only” flea market, meaning no crafts or recent imports, with merchandise at least from 1970 or earlier. This will be the first flea market in Northfield in quite a while. We hope to make this an annual event. If you are interested in exhibiting, please contact me. I will have more information as the time gets closer.
