Croquet and Badminton

On Sunday June 27 I was pleased to help with the Church of the Annunciation fundraising auction at Hazelwood (near Northfield) Each year the church has a fantastic chicken and ham dinner and a great old-fashioned country auction with many local auctioneers donating their time. In the afternoon, Barb and I hosted an old-fashioned badminton and croquet party at our home in Northfield.

Milk Glass Convention

I am starting to get behind in blogging again. We were gone to Ohio for a week to conduct the annual convention auction for the National Milk Glass Collector’s Society. Although milk glass prices are weaker than they were several years ago, there is still keen competition for rarer pieces. We had a great time, saw a lot of friends, and made some new acquaintances.

Divers Estate Auction

Well this was another busy weekend. I helped Larry Valek with an auction at his site on Cty Rd 86. He had a nice auction with good weather and lots of bidders. We sold cement equipment, farm machinery, tools, trees, and shrubbery among other things. Larry and I have both been busy this Spring and haven’t had a chance to work together for a while. It is always fun to work with Larry and his team.

We have been working on getting the Divers auction ready. As usual, once we start emptying the attic we start finding really interesting things that aren’t listed in the ads. I found a carpenter’s chest full of tools. Many of the tools appear to be unused. Disston, Stanley, etc. A drawknife that has probably never touched wood, etc. Russel Wright dishes, 1935 Babar the Elephant book, late 1940’s Disney books, Orrefors bowl, estate jewelry, handwork, graniteware, several misc Red Wing dishes;, etc. Come early on Saturday and look around.
